MSF USA Virtual September Mapathon

September 17, 2024

6:00PM-8:00PM ET

Event type: Live online

Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) invites you to participate in a virtual Missing Maps event on Tuesday, September 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET.

We will be mapping in Mizoram state, India, where MSF is supporting local communities as well as those who have been temporarily displaced to India following the conflict in Myanmar. MSF aims to provide free and quality medical and mental health care to the communities in the area, while responding to any medical-humanitarian emergency that may occur in Mizoram State. Activities include mobile medical clinics, mental health support, water and sanitation support, and distributions of non-food items such as kitchen utensils and blankets.

A special initiative founded by Doctors Without Borders, American Red Cross, British Red Cross, and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, Missing Maps is powered by volunteers around the world. Using OpenStreetMap, an open, free, and crowd-sourced platform, volunteers map underserved regions in order to provide international and local NGOs and individuals with geographic data to better respond to crises.

Both beginners and experienced mappers are welcome to join this Mapathon. We will be utilizing the OpenStreetMap Platform and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team Tasking Manager.

Once you register, you will receive an email confirmation with a Zoom link to attend online.
